Saved

So many people are asking me where I stand on Jesus, just because I have left the church and its circus never to return, and that I don’t call myself a Christian because it is such a polluted term, but call myself a follower of Jesus instead.
I will let Bob Dylan answer for me:
By His grace I have been touched
By His word I have been healed
By His hand I’ve been delivered
By His spirit I’ve been sealed
I’ve been saved
By the blood of the lamb
And I’m so glad
I want to thank You, Lord
By His truth I can be upright
By His strength I do endure
By His power I’ve been lifted
In His love I am secure
He bought me with a price
Freed me from the pit
Full of emptiness and wrath
Nobody to rescue me
Nobody would dare
I was going down for the last time
But by His mercy I’ve been spared
Not by works
But by faith in Him who called

When I lived in Beirut a man once said ” the difference in you is that you follow Jesus, you are not a christian you follow Jesus” it was the best thing anyone has ever said to me, I of course do not live up to that description but I so want to

  2. Arne Garvi says:

I like “Follower of Jesus”, words like believer is not enough for me because faith is dead without works, works that flow naturally from the relationship we have with God.

  3. Sylvia Barrington says:

“Follower of Jesus”is definitely better because it implies that Jesus is leading and alive. It also means that you are attempting to be like Him, not just believe but walking it out

Yes, I do think the Christian moniker is polluted. The teachings of Jesus can certainly be followed by all of humankind-Christian or non Christian. Sometimes, though, it is hard to leave a life long legacy behind, even after much contemplation and reflection. Do you ever dream of your past?
